Notice of Race
  1. VENUE
    The Athens Eurolymp Week 2008 will be held from 17th to 22th February 2008 at the Olympic Sailing Center Marina Delta Falirou and sailed on the Saronikos Gulf area.

  2. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

    Finn - 49er - 470 Men - 470 Women - Tornado - Yngling Women - Star - 2.4mR disable

  4. RULES
    The event will be governed by :
    • The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (ISAF).
    • The Class rules (unless otherwise modified by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions)
    • This Notice of Race, and
    • The Sailing Instructions.
    • RRS 44.2 (two turns penalty)will apply. For the Tornado and the 49er rule 44.2 change so the two turns are replaced to one turn.

  5. ELIGIBILITY
    The Eligibility requirements as defined in ISAF regulation 19 shall apply.

  6. ADVERTISING
    The ISAF Advertising Regulation 20 shall apply.
    Boats may be required to display a bow number and advertisement of the event sponsor on either side on the forward 25% of the hull.
    Sailboards may be required to display such number and advertising on either side of the sail above the wishbone.
    Boats authorized to have advertising must present their permission of their National Authority.

  7. ENTRIES
    Entries shall be made on line or by fax through the National Authority of the entrant, no later than February 12 2008.

    ENTRY FEES

    • Single-handed and board: 80 €
    • Double handed: 120 €
    • Keelboat: 150 €
    • 2.4mR: 80 €

    Entry fees will be PAID UPON ARRIVAL BY CASH ONLY

    The following competitors are exempt from the entry fee:

    • The 1st , 2nd and 3rd of each Olympic class at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games
    • The 2007 Olympic Classes world champions

  9. ON-SITE REGISTRATION
    Competitors and Team Leaders shall complete on-site Registration forms at the Registration Office from Sunday 17th 10:00 to 17:00 until Monday 18th 09:00 - 11:00 hrs.
    Competitors not registered within this time will not be entered.
    Sailing Instructions will be available at the registration desk.

  10. RACING FORMAT
    Courses will be as possible the same configuration as these proposed for the Olympic Games.
    The top 10 boats in each Olympic Class will sail the final “Medal Race” on 22th of Feb.

  11. SAIL NUMBERS
    Boats shall use the approved Nationality Code Letters on their sails as required by RRS.
    Competitors may be required to wear bibs (which will be provided by Organizing Authority).
    In alteration of their Class Rules, the national letters on the sails shall apply for any class.

  12. MEASUREMENT
    A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions.
    On the water, a boat can be instructed by a race committee measurer to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection.

  13. SCORING SYSTEM
    The Low -Point Scoring System will apply.

  14. INTERNATIONAL JURY
    An International Jury will be appointed with the approval of Hellenic Sailing Federation.

  15. INSURANCE
    Competitors will participate in the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK entirely on their own risk.
    The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for personal or material damage, injury or death, sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK
    The Organizing Authority disclaims any and all such liability.

    For each competing yacht at least a valid third party liability insurance not less than 540.000 Euros shall be in existence for the entire duration of the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK

    It shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor to have such insurance cover and provide written proof there of to the Organizing Authority upon request.
    Third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 540.000 Euros, must be presenting at the registration desk (the original issued by the insurance company).

  16. RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
    A competitor participating in the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK, automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her and him/her activities during the period of the competition for the said ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK without compensation.

  17. SUPPORT BOATS
    Support/coach boats must be register the same time as the racing boats at the Race Office and shall fly their national flag at all times whilst on the water.

    All support boats must be presenting at the registration desk a third party liability insurance with the minimum cover of 550,000 Euros.
    Motorboat driving license recognized by a State authority and original insurance-policy for the coach boat.

  18. TRANSPORTATION
    Information about the transportation discount will be announced soon

  19. PRIZES
    Prizes will be given to each event’s first, second and third boat in series points PRIZE MONEY:
  20. Free B/B accommodation (from the recommended hotels) to the first crew of each class
  21. For the Single-handed boat (Prizes are per boat)
    • 600 € for the 1st Place,
    • 400 for the 2nd Place,
    • 200 for the 3rd place
  22. For the Double-handed boat (Prizes are per boat)
    • 800 € for the 1st Place,
    • 500 for the 2nd Place,
    • 300 for the 3rd place
  23. For the Keelboat (Prizes are per boat)
    • 900 € for the 1st Place,
    • 600 for the 2nd Place,
    • 400 for the 3rd Place,

    Prizes per boats are valid only if eight (8) boats race per category from 3 different countries, except for Yngling, Star and 2.4mR where prices are valid only if six (6) boats race per category from 3 different countries.
  24. ACCOMODATION
    Competitors will make accommodation arrangements directly to the hotels.
